Entrance Hallway Cabinets

A pair of hand painted matching fully bespoke coat and shoe cupboards with hanging space, shoe drawers, shelves and an oak bench seat.

Mudroom, boot room or entrance hallway? Whatever you call it, it is the first thing you, and your visitors, see when you enter your house. Ah, the entranceway to your home. The kids throw their shoes, the dog lead is resting on a pile of coats, school bags have been abandoned and its messy! It becomes essentially a dumping ground.

Not for these lovely clients – they commissioned us to make something to solve all their hallway problems. Yes its clean and yes everything is organised but above all that we think it is simply beautiful. We designed the interior to have a space for everything. Coats and shoes of course, but also hats and scarves, school bags, wellies, suitcases, handbags and even a place for a guitar.

We have used Jim Sharples Furniture over the years for 3 different projects. His workmanship is amazing and will always give you a well-designed beautiful piece that is built to last. Jim and his team are friendly, professional and great to work with. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a bespoke handmade item.

Style: Traditional
Materials: Oak veneered plywood, painted MDF shaker style doors, pull down hanging rails, metal ventilation grilles from Armac Martin
Colour: Little Greene ‘Knights Bridge’

We had several design meetings with various ideas thrown around from Pinterest and Instagram, as is often the way there were almost too many different ideas at first. We gradually whittled it down to what our client actually wanted and needed from these matching cabinets. Then it was easy to get the design just right for the exterior. The interior, however, took slightly longer to design and was more complicated with pull down hanging rails, mirrors and internal drawers to plan. It was a great feeling after weeks of planning when we received the email saying ‘yes, that design is exactly right’.

The colour chosen was Little Greene ‘Knightsbridge’ which is a gorgeous warm grey colour and as always with Little Greene paint was a dream to paint with. Cabinet handles are a very important finishing. It’s always worth choosing carefully. Some handles feel solid, heavy and well made and some are lighter and don’t feel they would last very well. And it doesn’t always mean the better ones are more expensive either in our experience!

We have a selection of handles that we like to show you, ones that we like, but you can choose any that you like too, and we can fit those for you. These clients choose some nice solid bar handles and we think they look great with the gorgeous Little Greene Colour.

We want to extend a special thank you to these clients for sticking with us through this difficult year with Covid-19 restriction and delays, and for their patience, we really appreciate it.
